Description:

Renovations were performed on numerous projects beginning in 1978 and most recently in 1997. The Lyric Opera House remained open throughout the construction of each project.

The most recent project included the addition of office space, loading dock and stair towers, plus general renovations. An intricate part of this project was structural stabilization to the existing building. The north and south sides of the existing foundation were underpinned to facilitate installation of hand dug caissons, which were required to support this addition as well as future additions.
