Johns Hopkins University
Eisenhower Library
Baltimore, MD
Completion Date: 1997
Duration: eighteen months
Contract Value: $3,107,477
Description:
This six-story facility consists of four levels below grade
and two levels above grade. Each of the six levels were renovated
in multiple phases.
The scope of work included asbestos removal, selective
demolition, new mechanical and electrical systems and all new architectural
finishes. The new wood casework and wood shelving were nominated
for craftsmanship awards by The Building Congress & Exchange of
Metropolitan Baltimore.
Due to the nature of the university library, construction
noise was held to a minimum at all times, as the building was fully
occupied throughout construction. In addition, certain areas of
the building housed original, historic books and periodicals, which
required extreme measures to protect and preserve.
